Shelby #258 is a 1967 GT500. This car is currently owned by Shaun Fitzgerald and resides Bristol, TN.
Shelby #258 was built at Ford’s San Jose factory, now a shopping mall. This Mustang was completed on Dec. 9th 1966. Ford shipped it to Shelby’s facility in Los Angeles CA where it was turned into a Shelby GT500. Shelby American shipped it by rail on Jan. 18th 1967 to J.D. Ball Ford in Miami Florida. On Feb. 16th 1967 #258 was purchased from J.D. Ball Ford by Raymond R. Hall from Miami Beach Florida. The car remained in the Miami area until 1985 when it was brought to the Pittsburgh area.

#258 as delivered:
Radio delete (car has never had a radio in it), Lime Gold in color with no Le Mans stripes (white stripes added in 1982) Inboard headlights (Angled forward grill – center lights protrude 1 inch at top and 2 inches at bottom), early style steel reinforced hood and trunk lids, functional lower rear brake scoops.
Engine: Cobra OHV 428 cubic inch plant. 355 advertised horsepower at 5,400 rpm; 420 foot pounds of torque at 3,200 rpm. Compression ratio 10.50:1: two Holly 4V carburetors with 600 cfm flow rate each and dual exhaust system.
#258 as she is currently fitted:
Car is currently painted candy apple red with white LeMans stripes. Car was painted red in 1983 when owned by Bob Acosta. A 427 side-oiler was installed in 1985 with a Weber induction system by Acosta. In 1988 the Weber system was traded for tunnel port heads and intake and installed on the car by Ray Vinson Jr. #258 is currently fitted with a 427 side-oiler with tunnel port heads. Trunk mounted battery and manual steering. Pro-scat seats were added along with 17x8 Vintage Wheel Works 10 spoke wheels with 255/45ZR17 tires in 2010. The power steering and heater were removed in the 1980’s.
#258 is listed in the Shelby American World Registry 1987 edition on page 345, the 1997 edition on page 705, and twice in the 2011 edition on pages 27 and 901.
